The first episode of KyoAni’s ONA for KnK came out of nowhere, and since nobody else picked it up here we are. Props to Etoce for fixing my shitty insert translation.

Oh, right, Aikatsu is delayed for at least a day. Rewatch this episode of KnK in the meantime, it’ll make everything better. ALSO, work on the batch is coming along. It’s going to be a whole lot better than our original releases.
Nothing beats a real imouto
And now for something completely different. Mitsuki jumps in the rankings and is absolutely great this episode. Things of note include the new/modified terminology “shadowed”, which basically means “possessed by a shade” (which is what Mirai thought Akihito was in the first episode). They also finally used the word “youmuseki”, which was almost put in as “rock-mode shades”. There was probably something else… (usual spoiler warning)

And here we are for the second night of Walpurgisnacht. I hope you like crying girls, because that’s what you’re getting.
Episode 04: Torrent
This is more important so it goes on top. For the controversial “youmu” translation, we originally had “demon” to go along with cambion, but changed it to “shade” in episode 2 to match the Void Shadow. Other groups have phantom, youmu, or the much debated “dreamshade”. To everyone who pretends to understand Japanese and tries to know better than actual fansubbers: fuck you. As this latest episode of kyoukana demonstrated with the dream monologue, taking clues from the kanji used (妖夢) and attempting to localize is in fact the best way to translate. Sure, UTW took a bit of a gamble, but it paid off this time, and it should be taken whenever possible.

This anime features unobtrusive dialog so that the viewers can fully enjoy the cuteness of the girls
The only real note is that apparently animal crackers and animal biscuits are distinct and different, and the latter are more oishii. Spoiler images after the break.

I wanted to use a winking one, but her eyes are too beautiful
We made a few changes this episode, namely turning 妖夢 (youmu) from “demon” to “shade”. With the advent of an important figure that has “shadow” in it’s name, this seemed like an appropriate choice. For the record, “cambion” and “exorcist” have not changed. Also, what we had as custodian last episode is now “Cleaner[s]”, as it seems to be an exorcist-related group that cleans up their messes. Pretty sure that’s it. Plot starts to be fleshed out this episode, so enjoy.

Woohoo, new KyoAni anime!
And thus starts the autumn 2013 season of anime. It took us about 12 straight hours of work to get this out to you, but I’m damn happy that we did it. To all the new visitors: welcome, and thank you for checking us out. For those of you who haven’t even heard of us before—why aren’t you watching Aikatsu? And finally, thank you to everyone who has come back once again for another season of anime. As this is a supernatural show we had to make some choices with the terminology, and though I have yet to compare to other groups I will explain our reasoning after the break.
